The
Sangre de Cristo Mountain
Range is the eastern
boundary of the San Luis
Valley and east of your
property.
The Sangre de Cristo
Mountains got their name due
to the brilliant pink and
red colors the mountains
display at sunset. The
Spanish name Sangre de
Cristo translates into
English as “the blood of
Christ.” The communities in
the San Luis Valley have a
strong, Catholic religious
background. It was
only natural for them to
make the association between
the colors of the mountains
and something they hold so
dear to themselves; their
religion.
